Illustration of a figure floating as she types a laptop, with “britbox?” above her. Her figure is superimposed over blue waves meant to represent the Atmosphere. Thought bubbles show characters from several British TV shows.

Thanks for all those who responded to my call on Bluesky for Britbox suggestions! And THIS is exactly the kind of post that is perfect for an Atmosphere blog like . In the past when I did a community poll like this, I'd record the link somewhere or try to record some of the suggestions, but inevitably the information would get lost.

Now I can create posts like the one you're reading now, not just for my own reference but also in case others are interested in browsing the results as well!

I'm embedding the original post below:

Trying out Britbox for a couple of months, looking for suggestions! Love The Other Bennet Sister, Downton Abbey, Lost In Austen, Fawlty Towers, Shetland. Looking for strong female leads, not all dark/depressing.

I'll be curious to see how this looks once published, especially to anyone who does not yet have an Atmosphere account.

And in case you have trouble accessing the post above, you can also go directly to this link.

Here are just some of the suggestions, for those interested:

The Bletchley Circle - "All female MCs, but is kind of dark."

Death Valley - "Good female lead and on the lighter side."

The Fall - "Good if you like thrillers."

Father Brown

Happy Valley

Karen Pirie

Line of Duty

Ludwig - suggested by many!

The Mallorca Files - "Just don't think too hard about it"

Miss Marple

Murder In Suburbia - "Two women detectives, lighter side of cop mysteries."

QI - "Not fiction but very funny"

Riot Women

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators - "Goofy and fun"

Sister Boniface Mysteries - "Somewhat light, sometimes silly/goofy"

Upstart Crow

Vera - "Got me through lockdown. I absolutely love it."

The Vicar Of Digby

Thanks to all who responded! To browse the full list of suggestions and add your own, feel free to check out the original thread on Bluesky.
