POLL: Who was YOUR favourite Star Trek captain?

I remember first watching episodes of classic Star Trek on my grandparents' television in black and white in the late sixties. For the longest time, I assumed that the first Star Trek was filmed in b&w but later realized it was because my grandparents had a b&w television; colour televisions were too expensive.

I'm also a big fan of the music in Star Trek. I used to be able to hear a snippet from classic Trek and be able to name which episode it came from. Kudos to Alexander Courage, Fred Steiner, Gerald Fried, Jerry Goldsmith, and James Horner, among others.

Since then, I've fallen behind in all the iterations of Star Trek that have come out since then. I do still have a soft spot for Jean-Luc Picard / Patrick Stewart, though. Below: a literacy poster that the librarian at North York Central Library gave me after my music group did a children's concert; I had it up in my basement office forever, and it's now safely rolled up in the storage locker until after our house renovation.

Many years ago, I wrote a song called "A Neurotic Love Song" which my filk music group used to perform. I made silly props! From left to right: Jodi Krangle, , me with Jean-Luc Picard, performing the song at FilKONtario.

I submitted the lyrics to the song to TV Guide when they were looking for fan material about the end of STTNG and it made it into the Collector's Edition!

Please note that I wrote this song decades ago! If I was writing a version today, I would change some of the references.

I am soooo behind in Star Trek series these days, partly because of lack of time and partly because my husband and I don't have Paramount+.

However, my friend Reid introduced me to a series called Lower Decks last year. It is so good! I also had a sampling of Strange New Wolds and Discovery, so those are two more ST series I still need to watch sometime.

If you are a fan of the Star Trek franchise, by the way, I highly recommend checking out Star Trek: Center Seat. A bit goofy in presentation, sometimes, BUT both of us found it thoroughly engaging. Plus we learned things about Star Trek we didn't before!
